PTA President
Dear Wildcat Families,
The West Shore Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome you to another great year at West Shore!
The West Shore PTA provides financial and volunteer support for the West Shore administration, teachers, and students, and our 650+ members are an integral part of the West Shore community. Below are just a few examples of the support we provided last year.
· Hosted a Back to School Breakfast for our teachers and the Senior Boards volunteer luncheon in April
· Contributed 50% of the funding for 30 new computers for the digital arts program
· Purchased additional equipment for the robotics program
· Paid for all West Shore Juniors to take the PSAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and spring ACT
· Paid for senior transcripts
· Hosted Mental First Aid workshops for our parents
We encourage you to join the West Shore PTA. Dues are $20. By joining the PTA, your household will earn 5 volunteer hours. To join, go to https://westshorepta.givebacks.com/store and select the desired membership level for your family.
Attend our monthly PTA general meetings to get more information about the happenings in the West Shore community and gather useful information from our guest speakers. Our first meeting will be Tuesday August 27 at 6:30pm. You will get 1 volunteer hour just for attending. Visit our website for information (https://www.westshorepta.com). Then, follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/westshorejrsrhigh) to keep up with news and events.

Our mission is to support the goals of the school through parent/teacher partnerships, financial resources and associated oversight. This enables West Shore to create a community that embraces our core values, encourages involvement and volunteerism, and advocates for academic excellence.
West Shore PTA is honored to be the recipient of the 2023-2024 Partner in Education Award by Brevard Public Schools
Volunteer
It truly does take the whole West Shore village to raise our children! Whether you are new to West Shore or a returning parent, volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and build strong school connections. In addition to volunteering being intrinsically rewarding. West Shore parents are required to volunteer 20 hours per year.
West Shore has so many different ways to volunteer. There is sure to be a few different ways that fit your schedule and match your talents and preferences. We encourage you to find a way to help in whatever way fits your schedule best and commit to attending at least one PTA fundraising event or activity per semester. The West Shore community will thank you and so will our kids!
How to keep track of hours earned:
Parents are required to self-report. The volunteer log books are kept in the Attendance Office. If you would like to keep track of your hours at home, use this form and then add it to the book at the end of the school year.
How to earn volunteer hours:
PTA membership! Each family can receive a maximum of five (5) hours per year for becoming a member of the PTA.
Attend PTA Meetings! One (1) volunteer hour is earned per member. This means if two parents attend TWO (2) hours are earned for that family.
Box Tops for Education! Scan your receipt with the Box Tops app and you'll earn for your school with every Box Tops product you buy.”
Help at different school events. Support your student and volunteer at the same time.
